SADC Communities of Practice
The Community of Practice of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) National Planning Entities (NPEs) is comprised of five forums focusing on the strategic priority areas of the Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP 2020-2030) and SADC Vision 2050. It is constituted of thematic pillars, clustered around development planning and policy issues, and serving as the main vehicles for the substantive work of SADC. Each forum provides a space for expert discussion, knowledge sharing, and networking, avoiding both siloed approaches and reinventing the wheel in responding to changing regional and country needs.
Peace, Security & Good Governance
This forum provides a space for development planners, experts, researchers, and stakeholders of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) National Planning Entities (NPEs) to discuss, share, and harness knowledge directed towards achieving peace, security, and political stability, which are essential for socioeconomic development in the SADC region. This includes issues related to the following thematic areas:
- Early warning systems
- Political cooperation, democracy, good governance, rule of law, human rights, and human security.
- Defense and security system
Industrial Development & Market Integration
This forum provides a space for development planners, experts, researchers, and stakeholders of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) National Planning Entities (NPEs) to discuss, share, and harness knowledge directed towards realising an industrialised regional economy that utilises its natural resources sustainably. This includes issues related to the following thematic areas:
- Industrialization
- Trade
- Agriculture
- Financial Markets
- Monetary policies
- Investments
- Macroeconomic stability
