The Ministry of Economic Planning and Development (MEPD) is responsible for the development, planning and monitoring of the economic performance, through the production of national development documents (national development strategy/vision, poverty reduction strategy and national development plans). It advises and assists the Government in formulating, coordinating and implementing economic policies, strategies/plans and intervention measures. The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning is mandated to coordinate the development of Lesotho’s long- and medium-term national development plans, including monitoring and evaluation, policy advice, mobilization of resources, projects management and statistical information management. The Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development (MOFEPD) is responsible for formulating policies for the economic and social development of the country and the economic management of the affairs of the Government of Mauritius. The Ministry of Economy and Finance guides and coordinates the design, implementation, and evaluation of public development policies and strategies aimed at the growth and inclusive development of the national economy. It directs the planning process and supervises the management of public finances.
Amongst others, the National Directorate of Planning and Budget
designs and coordinates the National Planning System;
the State Budget Subsystem; drafting the Government's Five-Year Plan; preparation and definition of multiannual forecasts of revenues, State financing and expenditure, and communicates the overall annual limits of the State Budget; Ensures the allocation of resources to the State Budget.
