About The Kingdom of Eswatini
The Kingdom of Eswatini is a founding member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), having been part of the regional bloc’s formation as the Southern African Development Co-ordination Conference (SADCC) in Lusaka, Zambia, in April 1980. Eswatini is the only absolute monarch in Southern Africa. It is a small, landlocked country located in Southern Africa bordered by the Republic of Mozambique to the east and the rest by the Republic of South Africa. The cultural heritage is deeply rooted in the Kingdom with traditions carefully protected and sustained and colourful ceremonies regularly take place to mark special occasions.

National Planning Entity The Economic Planning Office is housed under the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development. With the overall responsibility of coordinating the implementation of the National Development Strategy (NDS) through National Development Plan and the Poverty Reduction Strategy and Action Programme (PRSAP); integration of global and regional development agenda and cross cutting issues including climate change into the development and planning framework. Furthermore, the department has the responsibility of advising on economic policy issues, formulation and implementation through priority programmes and projects which are financed through the budget. Adjunct to these activities the department undertakes macro-economic forecasts to guide the allocation of resources based on economic performance and availability.
